We are a 501c(3) non-profit corporation that provides a clean and sober environment for those with drug and alcohol addictions. We are located at 10660 Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo, CA. We offer a clean and sober living environment at an affordable rate so that people in recovery can start taking those first steps toward re-entering society and leading productive lives. We are unique in the fact that currently we are the only clean and sober living environment that is open to both male and female associates as well as couples.
Here at Sunny Acres, we offer a simple program of living to help people with addictions overcome various obstacles in a supportive and healthy atmosphere. Associates have access to on-site management in a secure setting and a variety of services including:
Low Cost Housing AA / NA Meetings Affordable Meals Work Opportunities
We believe that a good foundation is the most important step in building a new life in sobriety. Some of our clients have special needs, or may have obligations to parole, probation, or mental health. Our associates come from many walks of life, but they all share a common goal: learning to live clean and sober. They form a diverse and unique community, with a genuine interest in helping each other overcome the disease of addiction and succeed in living a more responsible and productive life. Clients are offered work, access to meals in a community kitchen and a choice of housing options to fit their individual needs. We believe that the success of the individual serves to enhance and enrich the community as a whole.
We offer shared rooms in a recently remodeled Victorian home with all the amenities, including kitchen facilities and furnished living room with fireplace. Our simple program allows associates to attend on-site meetings twice a week for Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous, and one Community Meeting where we discuss ways of improving and strengthening the community. We plan to upgrade Sunny Acres with a two-story dormitory to offer more housing. However, making this happen has proven to be a significant challenge, and at present many of our residents live on site in tents. In all cases we do our best to accommodate the needs of our residents. Please call us with questions you have, or specifics you may need.
Currently San Luis Obispo has a shortage of available low-cost clean and sober living homes. While our goal is to address the shortage by expanding Sunny Acres, in the meantime we strive to improve the situation for our residents and San Luis Obispo using the resources available to us.
Within the Sunny Acres environment, there are numerous ways for a recovering addict to change his or her life, including
· Learning a skill that is offered within one of the Sunny Acres businesses · Working with the staff of Sunny Acres · Working locally on your own and sharing the results with Sunny Acres · Working outside of Sunny Acres, while being a member of our recovery team.
In Summary
We provide an environment of recovery. Our rules are strict, and our members are dedicated to the Sunny Acres environment. If you are in need of our help, and/or would like to be a part of our clean and sober environment, please contact us. If you would like to help us as a volunteer, or help us financially, please click the Help Sunny Acres button.
On behalf of all of us, thank you.
